    1. Hi Geeta,
The most common ones are queso fresco and goat cheese. For this recipe, we have not tried substituting but let us know your feedback if you do try…

  1. Not only is this cake easy to make (as Anuja noted), but it tastes great too. I am so happy I tried it out. Now I have a reason to not buy cakes from the store any more.
One extra step I found on another website was to sprinkle brown sugar on the baking dish, so that it gives a caramelized texture to the cake.
Thanks a lot for the recipe!

    1. Sorry for the late reply Ana. As a general rule of thumb, anything that contains dairy products should be stored in the refrigerator.

  3. Hi Hetal and Anuja,

how long can i store the cake in the refrigerator?
Is it it possible to reheat this cake in the microwave?
    Thank´s for you answer

  6. Hello Hetal,

I tried this recipe and I have to say it taste amazing.Once it’s baked it looks so good. It’s not too sweet either, so it’s perfect for people who wants less sweet.

    1. Hi Haley,

Most places have an Indian grocery store. That would be the best place to find sooji. If not, it is called semolina so you might be able to find it in a regular grocery store.

  8. Hi anuja anh hetal, Your milkcake receipe was awesome . i made it at home , but i don’t no my cake was uncooked at bottom side. plz tell me why its happend?

    1. Hi Neetu,

When working with microwave recipes, the power level of your microwave affects the outcome greatly. You may have to cook it for longer.

  9. Hi Hetal n Anuja,

Could you please post the pressure cooker method of making a cake? I don’t have an oven @ home. My son likes cakes and I would be happy to prepare it on my own for him.

  10. Made this milk cake with panner now. Had to give it a good hand kneading. I didn’t get the consistency shown in your video to pour into the baking dish, before baking. Even then it came out very well (slight crust outside and soft inside). Perfect sweetness also. Thanks for sharing. πŸ™‚

  13. I came across your website looking for dessert recipes. I made the milk cake today and it tasted lovely. I will definitely make it again. And I will be visiting your site almost everyday now. You girls have got such great recipes out there. Thanks for sharing all of them!!

  14. Hi Hetal & Anuja,

Have you, or maybe someone else, tried to use rosewater in this recipe? I wonder if that will turn out good.

  15. We’ve been addicted to this cake after I found the recipe! I’ve been baking it every day this week: in bigger pans (thinner cake) and smaller pans (thicker cake),with lemon zest or almond extract. I couldn’t find semolina in our HEB stores and used regular flour instead. It works! I recommend using lots of dry fruit (we love raisin/cranberry mix!)and skip the nuts. Nuts, even roasted, get soggy, while dried fruit regains moisture and becomes more palatable.
Thank you, girls, for this great recipe!

  16. Hi,

I want to double this recipe and bake it. Which size pan will be suitable? will a glass Pyrex 9 by 11 pan do?

    1. Hi Jaisri,

Your Pyrex 9 x 11 should work…the cake may be slightly thinner. Although we have not tried doubling this recipe, the baking time will probably need to be adjusted as well. Be sure to keep a close eye on the cake.

  17. Hi!
Just want to know if low or non fat ricotta cheese will yeild the same results. Also, it would be appreciated if you could post a recipe for the infamous “Bombay Sandwich”.

Thank you for your work, I so trust your recipes!

  18. Hello,

  21. Hi

This is my first time around and I am interested in trying outthis recipe…I have several questions
I have salted cashews, will they work?
Could I use walnuts instead of cashews?
Could I use dried blueberries instead of cashews?

  22. Hi, ladies. My friend Pragna told me about your recipe and I’m itching to try it, but don’t have any suji on hand. May I use regular all-purpose flour?

    1. Hi Colette,
Unfortunately, we don’t know if it will work and have not tried it with All-Purpose Flour πŸ™
Wish we had a better answer for you…

  23. hi.. have tried so many of ur recipes n luv them all.. just a quick question about this one.. can suji be replaced by anything?

  24. Hello!

Do you think this cake would taste good with frosting of some kind ??? I need to make a simple dessert for a small get-together and would be very happy if you reply …

    1. Hi Sajna,
This cake does not need any topping. We tried it cold and warm – and we preferred it warm. You can dress up the dessert by poring some chocolate syrup or some chopped dry fruit on it.
